Los Cabos Launches Program to Help Médano Beach Vendors Communicate Better with International Visitors and Enhance the Professionalism of the Beach

Published on December 4, 2025

Médano Beach in Los Cabos is a vibrant hotspot where golden sands, turquoise waters, and energetic beach life draw travelers from around the world. Yet, many visitors find the experience overwhelming as vendors quickly approach with offers ranging from handmade souvenirs and snacks to boat trips and excursions. The constant attention, while well-intentioned, can sometimes overshadow the relaxing beach atmosphere.

To address this, a new initiative will provide licensed street vendors with free English lessons and customer-service training. The goal is to enhance communication with international visitors, raise the professionalism of vendors, and create a more organized and enjoyable beach environment.

How the Program Works

The initiative brings together local authorities, licensed vendor associations, and private businesses including hotels and beach clubs. Licensed vendors operating on Médano Beach and other high-traffic areas will have access to structured programs that focus on English proficiency and hospitality skills.

The objectives are:

Currently, the city maintains a registry of 698 licensed vendors. Many of them operate on popular beaches and around the marina. However, unlicensed vendors, sometimes called “golondrinos” by locals, continue to appear, creating congestion and occasional stress for tourists. By training licensed vendors in English and customer service, visitors will be better able to distinguish professional operators from those working without permits.

The program is expected to begin in early 2026, with final dates and details being confirmed by authorities and private sector partners.

What Visitors Can Expect

Once implemented, the initiative could improve the beach experience in several ways:

Identifying Licensed Vendors

Even with training in place, it’s important for visitors to know how to recognize legitimate vendors:

Tips for Navigating Beach Vendors

A few simple strategies can make interactions stress-free and enjoyable:

  1. Use the “3-Second Rule”: If an offer doesn’t catch your interest within three seconds, politely decline and move on.
  2. Have One Polite Phrase Ready: “No, gracias, estamos bien” works well. A backup phrase, such as “Gracias, pero no vamos a comprar nada hoy,” reinforces your refusal clearly.
  3. Set a Daily Budget: Decide in advance how much to spend on souvenirs, snacks, or services to avoid stress or impulse spending.
  4. Research Big Activities Later: High-cost options like boat tours or jet skis can be compared and planned from your accommodation for safety and value.

Looking Ahead

While improvements will take time, this English training initiative reflects a coordinated effort to create a more professional and visitor-friendly environment. Tourists in 2026 and beyond may notice:

By following a simple vendor strategy, checking for identification, and using polite refusals, visitors can enjoy the lively atmosphere of Médano Beach while benefiting from the professionalism of trained vendors. This initiative marks a step toward a more welcoming, organized, and enjoyable beach experience for everyone.
