LOT Polish Airlines expands reach introduces direct route to Uzbekistan unveiling ‘Pearl Of The Silk Route’ from Warsaw

On March 13th, 2024, LOT Polish Airlines inaugurated its inaugural flight to Tashkent, marking a significant milestone. This new route not only enhances accessibility to Uzbekistan but also unveils the wonders of the Orient, steeped in a rich history spanning nearly 2,700 years. Tashkent joins the roster of destinations aligned with LOT Polish Airlines’ strategic vision for 2024-2028. With plans to expand its route network by incorporating 20 new connections, the airline aims to serve as a reliable partner for travelers, catering to both their business needs and wanderlust.

The first flight of LOT Polish Airlines heading to Tashkent took off on March 13th at 10:55 p.m. The departure ceremony, held at Warsaw Chopin Airport, was attended by Michał Fijoł, President of the Management Board of LOT Polish Airlines, and Bożena Żelazowska, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage , Amir said Agzamkhodjaev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Poland, Łukasz Chaberski, acting President of the Management Board of Polskie Porty Lotnicze, and the crew and passengers of the first flight. LOT Polish Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 landed in the capital city of Uzbekistan the next day a few minutes after 9 a.m. local time.

 –  Today, we are launching another LOT Polish Airlines connection – to Uzbekistan. It is one of the most intriguing countries in the world, which has a lot to offer to passengers from Poland and Europe. The attractions of the Silk Route and the legendary landmarks of Samarkand, Khiva or Bukhara are yet another unique spots on the map of the world, which are available to travellers in the LOT Polish Airlines route network. I am also convinced that the possibility of comfortably reaching the heart of Central Asia onboard our aircraft will generate the potential for further development of tourism and economic cooperation between Poland and Uzbekistan, said the President of the Management Board of LOT Polish Airlines, Michał Fijoł, during the opening ceremony. – We have launched our connection having the citizens of Uzbekistan in mind as well. From Chopin Airport, which is a convenient hub, a person travelling from Tashkent can reach nearly 80 cities in Europe and North America, which are available in our route network, he added.

Flights between Warsaw and Tashkent are scheduled on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with return flights to Warsaw set for Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, operated by LOT Polish Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8. Additionally, in April and May, an extra rotation will be added on Tuesdays, with the return leg to Warsaw scheduled for Wednesdays.

Uzbekistan, boasting a rich history spanning over 2,700 years and flourishing during the Silk Route era, captivates visitors with its remarkable landmarks, vibrant culture, and deep-rooted traditions. Its grandiose castles, splendid mosques, and strategic locations amidst deserts and oases have earned it the title of the touristic gem of Central Asia.

The introduction of a visa-waiver program in 2019 encompassing citizens from 45 countries, including Poland, has sparked a remarkable increase in the influx of international visitors to Tashkent and other urban centers in Uzbekistan. The number has surged from 2.7 million in 2017 to 5 million by 2023. Bolstered by contemporary resort facilities and an extensive network of high-speed trains linking major urban hubs, Uzbekistan has emerged as one of the leading countries experiencing rapid growth in its tourism sector, a recognition bestowed by the World Tourism Organization. Aligned with the objectives set forth in the “Uzbekistan 2030” strategy, the ambition is to draw in as many as 15 million foreign tourists.

In addition to existing connections to Athens and Riyadh, Tashkent features prominently in LOT Polish Airlines’ development strategy for 2024-2028. By expanding their route network to encompass 20 new destinations, the Polish carrier aims to be the preferred choice and a reliable partner for travelers seeking new experiences.
