The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) today honored Candace Ortiz, guest relations manager at NoMad Las Vegas, with the Hospitality Heroes award during its board of directors meeting. The Hospitality Heroes recognition program shines a spotlight on hospitality workers who consistently go above and beyond in Southern Nevada, providing world-class experiences for our millions of visitors.
Ortiz has worked for for MGM Resorts International for more than a decade and was part of the opening team at NoMad Las Vegas in 2018. As guest relations manager, Ortiz researches arriving VIP guests to ensure a memorable stay. She has been known to orchestrate unique ways to welcome guests, including adding personalized touches to guest rooms such as photos of family members, favorite snacks or beverages or incorporating a nod to guests’ favorite sports teams. Ortiz’s thoughtful nature and attention to detail have made a lasting impression on NoMad’s guests as well as her team members.
The Hospitality Heroes program shines a light on the best of the best in our local hospitality industry, honoring remarkable hospitality workers who help keep Las Vegas the number one tourist destination. The recognition program has received nearly 300 online nominations since it launched last year. Winners receive an award and an “Only Vegas” gift bag that includes a staycation at a local resort.
Hospitality Heroes are chosen by an independent section committee made up of the following local business leaders: Mary Beth Sewald, president and CEO of the Vegas Chamber, Peter Guzman, president of the Latin Chamber of Commerce, Stowe Shoemaker, Dean of UNLV’s William H. Harrah College of Hospitality and Brenda Scolari, director of the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs.
Nominations for the next recognition will open October 1 and will be accepted through Oct. 31.
