During the NAICO Malaysia China Aviation Forum, MAB Engineering Services (MAB Engineering) and Impeccable Vintage Properties (IVP) finalized a Lease Agreement for Hangar 4, the airframe maintenance facility at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB). This agreement marks a significant advancement following the Letter of Offer and Acceptance signed at the Selangor Aviation Show in September 2023. It signifies a crucial milestone for MAB Engineering as it expands its capabilities and presence in providing Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services within the region. With the leasing of Hangar 4, operational capacity is enhanced, enabling the simultaneous accommodation of one wide-body and two narrow-body aircraft. This enhancement in capacity promises increased efficiency to meet the evolving needs of the aviation sector.
Mohd Nadziruddin Mohd Basri, Chief Executive Officer of Aviation Services from Malaysia Aviation Group (“MAG”), said, “This leasing agreement marks a significant milestone in our dedication to expanding our capabilities, delivering exceptional services within the aviation industry. This expansion enables us to elevate industry standards and cater to the evolving needs of our clients and stakeholders, further solidifying our position as a leader for MRO services in the aviation sector.”
Fuad Sharuji, Chief Executive Officer of IVP, echoed this sentiment: “Our investments in refurbishing the MRO hangars at SZB Airport is part of our strategic commitment to cement the growth of Malaysia’s aviation sector. We are extremely pleased that this agreement would provide an opportunity for MAG to establish its long-term presence and operations at Complex A.”
Presently, MAB Engineering operates four hangar facilities, distributed as follows: two within KLIA, one in Kota Kinabalu, and another in SZB, specifically tailored for turboprop aircraft maintenance. This infrastructure offers a cumulative capacity of up to 13 aircraft bays, dedicated to both major and minor maintenance tasks, including Heavy Maintenance Visits (HMV) and designated areas for aircraft painting.
Moreover, MAB Engineering’s line maintenance operations extend to 17 airport stations across Malaysia, providing comprehensive technical support and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) assistance during aircraft transits, thereby bolstering its service portfolio nationwide. In response to the burgeoning demands of the aviation sector, MAB Engineering also offers aircraft maintenance training programs encompassing various approved Part 147 aircraft-type courses. These initiatives are complemented by value-added trainee programs, integrating CAAM Part 66 licenses with the Malaysia Skill Diploma, to meet the evolving skill requirements and contribute to industry growth.
