The story has shifted. No more waiting in the shadows of Rajasthan or Kerala. Madhya Pradesh Tourism finds its sweet spot—and now GCC is listening with fresh eyes and open arms. The heart of India has made its voice heard—and finally, GCC is listening to Madhya Pradesh Tourism’s sweet spot.
Madhya Pradesh’s presence at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025 was not merely symbolic—it was transformational. With the world’s leading travel trade professionals converging in Dubai, the state capitalized on this moment to assert its intentional positioning as a premium destination for Middle Eastern travelers. Unlike previous years where Indian states competed for attention with traditional tourism staples like Goa, Kerala, or Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh stood out by presenting a well-structured and deeply relevant tourism offering. This included showcasing high-value wildlife reserves, UNESCO-recognized heritage cities, spiritual landmarks, and unexplored adventure destinations—each one presented through a culturally attuned lens for the Gulf market. The result? Immediate traction. The state’s representatives returned from ATM with more than just inquiries; they returned with active leads, partnership proposals, and confirmed follow-ups that could open doors to new air routes and inbound visitor streams. This was more than a trade fair—it was a proving ground, and Madhya Pradesh passed with flying colors. The momentum from ATM 2025 isn’t isolated. It signals a sustained shift in how Madhya Pradesh will be perceived—not just as a domestic favorite, but as a globally desirable, Middle East-ready travel hub.

ATM Dubai is not just the largest tourism exhibition in the Middle East—it is a strategic gateway for global travel commerce. Hosting more than 40,000 travel professionals from 150+ countries, ATM has evolved into a launchpad for both high-profile destinations and emerging markets. For Madhya Pradesh Tourism, ATM is especially critical because it provides direct access to GCC travel operators, airline route planners, luxury hotel groups, and top media buyers who influence regional travel decisions. Unlike generalized fairs, ATM offers niche networking that aligns with Gulf traveler expectations—from privacy-focused holidays to family-centric leisure and spiritual wellness escapes. The visibility gained at ATM Dubai goes beyond banner presence—it creates serious business opportunities and injects credibility into destination narratives. Madhya Pradesh’s past participations laid the groundwork, but ATM 2025 saw a strategic leap forward. With a curated message, customized collateral, and well-researched itineraries, the state shifted from a background player to a serious contender for Gulf travel dollars. Most importantly, ATM gave Madhya Pradesh real-time feedback and interaction with decision-makers—helping refine its offerings, target market focus, and long-term positioning within the broader India-Middle East tourism corridor.
The numbers tell the story. Madhya Pradesh Tourism held more than 60 targeted B2B meetings with Gulf-based buyers during ATM 2025. These weren’t generic introductions. They were pre-qualified, strategic sessions focused on building itineraries, launching joint campaigns, and designing cross-border collaborations. Several UAE-based Destination Management Companies (DMCs) expressed immediate interest in launching co-branded marketing initiatives—leveraging their market knowledge with MP’s unique offerings. Even more promising were the airline conversations, which went beyond casual inquiries. Talks with both Indian and Gulf carriers centered on direct seasonal and chartered connections between Dubai and secondary Indian cities like Bhopal and Indore. These potential routes could unlock access to destinations currently reachable only via long-haul domestic transfers—making it easier and faster for Gulf travelers to experience MP’s unique circuits. Moreover, long-term partnerships seeded at ATM 2024 have now matured into active programs. These include co-funded ad campaigns, bundled family travel offers, and themed pilgrimage tours launching in time for major Middle Eastern holidays. Simply put, the state’s ATM presence wasn’t passive. It was purpose-driven, and the outcomes—live leads, airline talks, confirmed proposals—are shaping a sustainable inbound funnel from the GCC to Madhya Pradesh.
The shift in Gulf travel preferences is real—and Madhya Pradesh is seizing the moment. At ATM 2025, it became abundantly clear that Middle Eastern tourists are moving beyond shopping and skyscrapers, seeking immersive, story-rich, and spiritually fulfilling experiences. This aligns perfectly with what Madhya Pradesh offers. The tiger safaris in Bandhavgarh and Kanha, for instance, are not just wildlife excursions—they’re curated wilderness experiences with luxury stays, private guides, and conservation storytelling. Similarly, the royal trails of Gwalior, Orchha, and Mandu provide historical richness in settings far less commercialized than India’s typical heritage cities. The rising demand for family-oriented spiritual travel was also met with itineraries connecting Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar temple, Sanchi’s Buddhist stupas, and river journeys along the sacred Narmada. This holistic combination of nature, history, and faith has caught the attention of tourism boards and DMCs in the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, who see potential in crafting family-friendly, high-spend packages for GCC citizens and expats. The result? Madhya Pradesh is now co-developing itineraries with Middle Eastern partners that balance luxury with depth—a winning formula for the next generation of international travelers.
For years, one of Madhya Pradesh’s biggest challenges in attracting international tourists was its lack of direct international air routes. While Delhi and Mumbai served as entry points, the extra domestic leg deterred high-end travelers and short-stay vacationers—especially those coming from the Middle East. But that bottleneck may soon be history. During ATM 2025, the state’s tourism officials engaged in substantive discussions with multiple international and regional airlines, exploring the feasibility of launching seasonal or chartered flights between Dubai and Bhopal or Indore. Conversations also explored codeshare agreements with Indian airlines, creating smoother transitions for Gulf tourists connecting via metro hubs. These talks included evaluations of airport readiness, potential subsidies, and co-marketing contributions from tourism boards. Aligning infrastructure enhancements—such as improving international immigration facilities, signage, and VIP lounge access—is part of the proposed blueprint. If successful, even a limited set of weekly direct flights could drastically reduce travel friction and increase bookings by Middle Eastern families, senior travelers, and spiritual groups. The message is clear: air access equals market access, and ATM may have been the event where the wheels for this transformation were finally set in motion.
