For promoting youth involvement in tourism, the Tourism Department has heartened schools in
Maharashtra to form ‘youth tourism clubs’ for students starting from grades 7 to 10 and also for junior college pupils.

Supriya Karmakar, the Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism in Pune said that these tourism clubs would be making students conscious of what answerable and maintainable tourism is all about.

Karmakar said that children will acquire knowledge about native places of touristic prominence. Moreover,
this will assist in promoting tourism in Maharashtra, with these students becoming emissaries of native
traditional sites.

Any school can build a youth tourism club comprising just one teacher and 25 students concerning classes 7 and 10. When it comes to junior colleges, students can be from grades 11 and 12. Contributing students will know about indigenous history and sites of historic reputation in the neighborhood. Series of lectures, short trips, workshops and teachings can comprise part of the club undertakings every month.

Karmakar said that the school education section can help them in a hand-holding capability for instructions and scholastic backing. These youth tourism clubs would be cheered to hold sanitation initiatives and consciousness promotions at the places they visit. A payment sum of Rs. 10,000 for every school and Rs. 25,000 for each junior college is reserved by the Maharashtra administration for the scholastic year of 2023-24, stated Karmakar.
