Surfing is a way of life at Niyama Private Islands Maldives, especially with peak surf season approaching. Renowned surfers Brad Gerlach and Junior Garcia are set to reside there.
Niyama Private Islands Maldives stands as the pinnacle of surf destinations. Guests can bring their boards or get outfitted at the Rip Curl boutique, stay in surf villas, and surf waves like Vodi, which breaks right on shore. After surfing, guests can relax at the Surf Shack with rum and reggae, or at Drift Spa with a back massage and aloe vera wrap.

Brad Gerlach, the world’s #2 surfer in 1991, will be in residence from March 10 to April 20, offering his Wave-Ki coaching method. Junior Garcia, a photographer, will be there from March 8 to September 30, capturing guests mid-wave. Originally from Brazil and now based in Bali, Junior has spent his life chasing the ultimate wave and the perfect shot.

“The return of Brad and Junior to Niyama is epically exciting,” says Nathan Kemp, Surf Development Director at the resort. “Their unrivalled talents, combined with the perfect surf conditions and absolutely incomparable backdrop that is the Maldives, guarantees an unforgettable experience for all who will be staying with us during this time”.

Surfing in the Maldives is a year-round delight, with the peak season spanning from March to November. Brad offers private or family coaching, starting on land (USD 249) before hitting the water (USD 447). Group land sessions are also available (USD 74). Packages include a year of access to Wave-Ki online, featuring video lessons, live sessions, and Q&As, along with the choice of one-on-one virtual coaching. Sessions with Junior start at USD 249 per hour or USD 489 for a week.
