Yesterday, Manchester Airport hosted its annual ‘Meet the Buyers’ gathering, drawing over 300 attendees from 200+ local businesses. This event provided a direct platform for small and medium-sized enterprises across various industries to engage with key potential clients in Greater Manchester.
Representatives from sectors like construction and aviation, including Manchester Airports Group (MAG), BAM, Dalkia, and Manchester City Council, participated in the event. The venue was Manchester Airport’s Runway Visitor Park, where the day commenced with an address by the airport’s Managing Director, Chris Woodroofe.
Throughout the day, participants engaged in nearly 800 meetings with 29 major buyers. Concurrently, workshops and presentations took place in the park’s main hangar. Stuart D’Henin, Manchester Airport’s Head of Procurement and Contracts for Construction and Works, along with David Shaw, Head of Project Delivery, discussed the airport’s forthcoming investments, such as the £1.3bn Terminal 2 transformation, highlighting opportunities for local businesses.
Additionally, Becca Heron, Strategic Director for Growth and Development at Manchester City Council, led a workshop on the city’s growth vision in the afternoon session, further enriching the event’s discussions.
