Karl Burrows, General Manager Pou Ārahi Māori at Tourism New Zealand, recently said that Tourism New Zealand is all prepared to bring in varied Māori viewpoints and stories to the forefront of their storytelling, in a true and meaningful way.

Their insights demonstrate that the unique culture of Aotearoa New Zealand is a major attraction for potential manuhiri visitors. Manuhiri is looking for true stories and to discover Māori culture as they are here.

Mr. Burrows says that they want probable manuhiri to create an emotional bond with destination Aotearoa and a deep knowledge of their customs. This not only inspires them to visit their home but also helps them to be first-rate tourists as they are here, providing positively to their communities, culture, environment and economy.

With the help of the stories of manaakitanga, whakapapa, whanaunatanga and kaitiakitanga, the new social media content displays six Māori tourism operators, heartening up people to come and experience for themselves.

The operators include Te Ahurei Māori Tourism of Waikato, Manea Footprints of Kupe of Northland, Wairākei Terraces of Taupō, Āmiki of Christchurch, Waka Abel Tasman of Nelson and Te Ana Māori Rock Art of Timaru.

Riwai Grace of Āmiki Tours says that sharing stories in these six unique ways honors their tupuna ancestors.
