Marriott International and Cathay elevate partnership for greater travel perks

Marriott International, Inc. has unveiled an expansion of its acclaimed travel program, Marriott Bonvoy, by partnering with the Cathay Membership program, the loyalty scheme of Cathay. This collaboration offers eligible members the chance to access exclusive perks across both loyalty programs through a special status match offer and the opportunity to rapidly accumulate points with a two-way conversion mechanism between Miles and Points.

This enhanced alliance grants Marriott International entry to Cathay’s broad membership network. Globally, 11 million Cathay members will now have access to Marriott Bonvoy’s extensive collection of nearly 8,800 hotels and resorts worldwide, encompassing over 30 distinguished brands. Effective immediately, members of both Marriott Bonvoy and Cathay can take advantage of a host of advantages and privileges, including the redemption of hotel stays, bidirectional points exchange, and improved experiences with flight and travel packages.

The newly introduced advantages of the collaboration feature:

Enhanced Points Exchange Mechanism: Members can now exchange Marriott Bonvoy Points with Cathay’s Asia Miles, opening the door to additional exclusive benefits. The exchange program allows for a mutual conversion where 3 Marriott Bonvoy points are equivalent to 1 Asia Mile, and conversely, 2 Asia Miles can be turned into 1 Marriott Bonvoy point. This enables Marriott Bonvoy members to convert their Points into Miles and use them for flight tickets, additional luggage, priority seating, and other travel experiences with Cathay Pacific.

Special Promotion – Quick Path to Status Elevation: For a brief period, this alliance offers a fast-track option for members to elevate their status through expedited and reduced-cost routes. Members at the Gold, Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador Elite levels within Marriott Bonvoy can quickly advance to either Cathay Silver or Gold status, based on their current tier. Similarly, Cathay Silver, Gold, and Diamond members can swiftly move up to the Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite status.

Special Promotion – Tier Matching: This unique opportunity allows members to align their Marriott Bonvoy and Cathay membership levels, granting them access to further exclusive perks and promotions. Marriott Bonvoy members at the Platinum, Titanium, or Ambassador Elite levels will be matched to Cathay Silver, depending on availability, while Cathay Silver, Gold, and Diamond members will be eligible for the Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status.
