Mexico City unveils festive event lineup for the holiday season

“México City’s Holiday Extravaganza: Over 264 Festive Events Unveiled”

México City, known as the City that Has It All, is set to showcase its best during the December season with a lineup of more than 264 must-see events and activities catering to national and international tourists of all ages.

Highlights include posadas and pilgrimages in the city’s 16 neighborhoods from December 16 to 23, featuring traditional Mexican fruit punch and symbolic 7-spike piñatas. Paseo de la Reforma will host the Christmas Eve Flower Festival, offering unbeatable prices from flower farmers, while the Christmas Tourism Festival on Reforma, from December 12 to 17, will showcase crafts and cuisines from all 32 States of Mexico.

The Castillo de Chapultepec will host the Amalia Hernández Folkloric Ballet with the show titled “Christmas in Mexico,” and other events like the Christmas Craft Festival at the Casa del Risco Museum and the Coffee and Chocolate Festival at the Palacio de Minería.

In the heart of the Historic Center, enjoy the Verbena del Zócalo with its Christmas fair and vibrant lighting, featuring live music and pastorelas from mid-December to early January. The year will conclude with a Latin Times Square-style countdown celebration at the Ángel de la Independencia.

Sports Tourism takes center stage with the “Santa Run” race, and the Christmas Bazaar at the World Trade Center will also host the famous San Silvestre race. Various metropolitan areas, including Santa Fe, Paseo de la Reforma, Chapultepec, and others, have prepared a variety of recreational activities.

Religious Tourism will draw 6 million parishioners on December 12 to celebrate the Virgin of Guadalupe at La Basílica, the second most visited Marian temple globally.

Six Flags, a popular amusement park, has already kicked off Christmas celebrations, running until January 14, 2024. UNAM and OFUNAM Philharmonic Orchestras will offer Christmas concerts, details available on their billboards.
