As the new year approaches, Miami Beach — one of the world’s most iconic design destinations — is set to become a haven for architecture enthusiasts, culture seekers, and design travelers alike. In 2026, the city’s architectural wonders and creative spirit will take center stage with an extraordinary lineup of events that celebrate both the rich history and vibrant future of Miami Beach. From the centennial celebrations of Art Deco to the exclusive behind-the-scenes access offered during the third-annual Open House Miami festival, this year promises to be an unforgettable journey for those with a passion for design and the beach lifestyle.

The year kicks off with the Centennial Art Deco Weekend, a key event taking place from January 9–11, 2026, in the heart of the Miami Beach Art Deco Historic District. This renowned festival honors 100 years of Art Deco — the architectural style that defines Miami Beach’s distinct visual identity. With guided tours, expert-led talks, exhibitions, live performances, vintage experiences, and family-friendly activities, the weekend transforms Ocean Drive and the surrounding streets into a lively celebration of design, history, and community. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the timeless beauty of the Art Deco movement, which remains a cornerstone of Miami Beach’s cultural heritage.

“Miami Beach is proud to sit at the epicenter of Art Deco design and architecture,” said Peggy Benua, Chair of the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority (MBVCA). “Our destination celebrates the preservation of the area’s marquee buildings and facades, fusing the integrity of the past with the modern services and amenities travelers seek. We honor the history through immersive experiences and installations that both visitors and locals can enjoy, continuously learning about the true impact Art Deco has had on Miami Beach and beyond.”

Following Art Deco Weekend, Open House Miami (OHMIA) returns for its third consecutive year from February 27 – March 1, 2026. This popular festival offers unprecedented access to the city’s architectural gems, neighborhoods, and creative spaces. With over 100 experiences across more than 20 neighborhoods, OHMIA invites visitors to explore historic landmarks, contemporary design studios, hidden gems, and cultural icons. Tours, workshops, bike rides, and interactive talks provide guests with a deeper understanding of the city’s evolving design landscape. Among the highlights are exclusive Art Deco tours on Ocean Drive, visits to signature hotels, and a glimpse at the new Reefline installation, a major public art project that merges design with environmental sustainability.

In addition to the exciting events, a number of destination hotels are offering specialty offers and discounts to enhance the Miami Beach experience for visitors. Guests can take advantage of seasonal savings and exclusive perks at the newly opened Balfour Miami Beach, located in the vibrant South of Fifth area just steps from both the beach and the Art Deco District. The hotel is currently offering up to 30% off room rates through late May 2026, making it an excellent choice for extended stays around the Art Deco Weekend and Open House Miami. In addition, curated experiences that complement the city’s cultural programming are available for guests looking to enhance their stay.

For those seeking to experience a reimagined icon of Miami Beach, The Shelborne By Proper offers a beachfront design-forward experience with special seasonal savings. Travelers staying two nights or more can benefit from up to 35% off and a $100 dining credit per stay when booked for travel through February 2026. This is an ideal opportunity to indulge in luxury while enjoying the creative, architectural energy that defines Miami Beach.
