Miami has been experiencing a brutal stretch of heat, with July shaping up to be the warmest on record. The city recently ended a 34-day streak of 90-degree days, only to see temperatures rise again to 93 degrees by Sunday.
The abnormal wind direction, primarily westerly, has allowed temperatures to reach the lower to middle 90s before late-day showers bring some relief.
Water temperatures off the coast have also been unusually high, contributing to the prolonged heatwave.
Miami has already spent 70 hours above a 105-degree heat index threshold this year, surpassing previous records dating back to 1950.
The temperature has even exceeded 110 degrees during this hot spell. The forecast indicates that temperatures above 90 degrees will persist well into August, with RealFeel Temperatures remaining 10 to 20 degrees higher than the actual temperature. Miami residents should prepare for continued scorching conditions as the heatwave persists.
