JetBlue has announced a major expansion of its transatlantic network, adding new seasonal nonstop flights from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) and Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP), marking the airline’s first entry into Italy. The new routes will significantly increase JetBlue’s presence in Europe, adding to its existing connections to Amsterdam, London, Paris, Dublin, and Edinburgh. This move places JetBlue among the leading carriers offering transatlantic services, with eight European cities now accessible from Boston.
JetBlue’s new seasonal flights will begin in 2026, with Barcelona service starting on April 16 and Milan launching on May 11. Both routes will operate daily, providing travelers with more direct options between Boston and two of Europe’s most sought-after destinations. These new flights will be operated by Airbus A321neo aircraft, which feature JetBlue’s premium Mint cabin, providing a higher-end service option for passengers flying transatlantic routes.

The Barcelona route will operate seasonally, running through the summer and fall, with an end date that typically falls around October. The Milan service will follow a similar pattern, offering daily flights throughout the summer season. This expansion complements JetBlue’s existing European routes and strengthens its Boston-based operations.
In total, JetBlue will be serving eight European cities directly from Boston in 2026, including:

With this new expansion, JetBlue aims to meet the growing demand for travel to Southern Europe and Italy, while continuing to serve its popular routes to Northern Europe and the UK. These routes are particularly attractive for business travelers, tourists, and families looking for affordable and convenient travel options across the Atlantic.
Delta Air Lines currently operates nonstop flights from Boston to Barcelona and Milan, with a daily service to Barcelona and four weekly flights to Milan. JetBlue’s entry into these markets creates direct competition with Delta, which has established itself as a key player in the Boston-Europe market.

However, JetBlue positions itself as a low-cost alternative, offering competitive pricing alongside premium service options like Mint, making it an attractive option for travelers seeking affordable, comfortable transatlantic travel. The potential for price wars on these popular routes could benefit passengers, especially as JetBlue often offers flash sales and lower-cost options compared to its larger counterparts.
JetBlue’s Mint premium cabin will be available on both the Barcelona and Milan flights, offering a luxury experience that is often priced lower than that of traditional airlines. The Airbus A321neo features lie-flat seats, dedicated service, and a variety of in-flight entertainment options, ensuring both comfort and convenience on long-haul flights.
Economy passengers will enjoy JetBlue’s Core service, which includes free Wi-Fi, complimentary snacks, and a range of entertainment options. Additionally, JetBlue is known for its excellent customer service, making it a favorite for travelers looking for an affordable but comfortable journey.
JetBlue has announced introductory fares starting at $599 round-trip for economy (Core) and $2,499 for Mint to Barcelona. The Milan route will offer fares starting at $699 for economy and $2,999 for Mint. These fares are competitive compared to similar offerings from traditional carriers, and JetBlue often runs promotions that can significantly lower prices, especially during off-peak seasons.
The expansion of JetBlue’s European routes further solidifies Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) as a key transatlantic hub for the airline. With these new nonstop services to Barcelona and Milan, JetBlue now offers direct connections to eight major European cities, driving increased tourism, business traffic, and airline traffic through Boston.
The added routes will also provide a boost to local tourism, especially in Boston, as travelers can now enjoy more seamless travel to and from popular European destinations. The airport itself will likely see increased passenger traffic as JetBlue continues to build its European network.
JetBlue has been steadily growing its European footprint since launching its first transatlantic routes in 2021, and its expanded service to Barcelona and Milan is just the beginning. The airline is expected to continue exploring new destinations in Europe, with potential future routes to other major cities across Southern and Eastern Europe.
As competition in the transatlantic market heats up, JetBlue will likely continue to challenge traditional legacy carriers by offering more affordable options with a premium product. For passengers, this expansion promises more choices and better pricing for flights across the Atlantic.
