On Wednesday, Chief Minister Lalduhoma presided over a meeting to evaluate the feasibility of the project, which would also connect with Sairang railway station.
The envisioned Aizawl-Sairang-Lengpui ropeway initiative is designed to serve a dual purpose: promoting tourism and improving public transportation between the state capital and Lengpui, home to Mizoram’s only airport.
Discussions during the meeting focused on whether the project should be undertaken by the state’s tourism department or integrated into the Aizawl Sustainable Urban Transport Project (ASUTP), which is currently being implemented by the Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA) department through external funding.
Key attendees included Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation Minister K. Sapdanga, Tourism Minister Lalrinpuii, the Chief Minister’s financial adviser TBC Lalvenchhunga, and senior officials from various departments.
