Mizoram hosting International Tourism Mart

Mizoram is hosting a mega international tourism event from November 16-19 for tourism promotion and for attracting visitors to the state, said the state tourism minister Robert Romawia Royte.

The four-day event is the first of its kind in the state, said the minister. The International Tourism Mart (ITM) is jointly hosted by the Union Ministry of Tourism and the Mizoram tourism department for boosting and emphasizing the tourism potential of the northeast region, said Royte.

The event is being held at four locations: Assam Rifles ground, R Dengthuama Hall and Raj Bhavan in Aizawl along with Reiek tourist resort in Mamit district.

G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister Tourism, Culture and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) will launch the second day of the mart on November 17 at R. Dengthuama hall in Aizawl.

Minister Reddy would also lay the foundation stone of a tourism project, growth of convention center and connected infrastructure.

The Union Minister of State for Tourism Ajay Bhatt, Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga, Union Tourism Secretary Arvind Singh and notable people from outside the state would be part of the event.

State commerce and industries minister Dr R Lalthangliana inaugurated Mizoram state mega exhibition on the first day of the event (November 16) at Assam Rifles ground in Aizawl.
