Montenegro gets new President

After remaining in power for three decades, the times are shifting in Montenegro. A new, young president is taking over the charges of a country,keeping tourism as asupporterof the economy.


JakovMilatovic, 36-year-old father of 4, has been elected as the President of the Republic of Montenegro.


Born on December 7, 1986, Milatovic worked as the Minister of Economy of this European country from December 4, 2020 till April 28, 2022. Tourism remained in the portfolio of the Minister in thelovely country on the Adriatic Sea.


President-Elect Milatovicstudied Economics at the University of Montenegro, graduating with the highest possible average score of 10. He completed his Postgraduationfrom Oxford University.


Milatovicwas bestowedgrants from the US, Austria, and Italy.


Under Milatovic’smanagementin tourism, Montenegro has formed the national policy for tourism up till 2025.


It was the first time that the government of Montenegro created its home tourism approach without bringing in experts from outside.


The tourism plan was acknowledged in the region as well as the UNTWO. The president-elect functioned as the Minister of Economy in the earlier administration. His department also covered tourism.


The present tourism director Aleksandra Gardasevic-Slavuljicaworked as a team leader when the calculated tourism strategy for Montenegro was established.


Aleksandra, who was conferred the title of tourism hero by the World Tourism Network all through the pandemic, also works on the managerial board of the World Tourism Network.
