Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has set remarkable benchmarks this holiday season, boasting an outstanding 112% recovery in December. This achievement surpasses the pre-pandemic passenger traffic levels of December 2019 (4.37 million), with CSMIA experiencing its highest-ever monthly traffic of 4.88 million passengers. This indicates a substantial 13% growth compared to December 2022 (4.33 million). The airport’s consistent expansion to new destinations, coupled with exemplary services and hospitality, serves as a testament to the increasing trust passengers place in CSMIA.
The peak in passenger traffic for a single day during the month occurred on December 16th, with 165,258 passengers passing through CSMIA, comprising 84,166 arrivals and 81,092 departures. The month witnessed a total of 28,462 Air Traffic Movements (ATMs), with 7,287 international ATMs and 21,175 on domestic routes.
In December 2023, CSMIA’s passenger distribution prominently featured 47% from the Middle East, followed by 28% from the Asia Pacific region and 15% from Europe. Among domestic destinations, Delhi, Bangalore, and Goa topped the list, while Dubai, London, and Abu Dhabi remained the preferred international choices. Notably, the Mumbai–Delhi route alone saw substantial traffic, with CSMIA recording 622,424 passengers. Leading airlines on both domestic and international routes included IndiGo, Air India, and Vistara.
