The UK provides more than 40% of visitors to the Costa Calida from abroad. With the scheduled date for the departure of the UK from the European Union approaching, the tourism authorities in Murcia are doing their best to make sure that any negative effect on the sector is kept to minimum.
Two agreements with the British tour operators have been signed to make sure the arrival of 14,000 more visitors to the Costa Calida. Operators like On the Beach and Sidetours are offering package holidays comprising flights, hotel accommodation, and other activities to be in tune with sun-and-sand attractions of the Costa Calida.
By including nautical, sporting, cultural and gastronomic activities, the aim is to lessen the dependency of tourism on Murcia during the busy months of summer. At the same time, it is also for strengthening the already strong contribution of the UK to global tourism in Murcia.
