Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. of McLean, Virginia, has secured a contract from NASA for the maintenance and operation of incident reporting programs. The contract aims to enhance current and future reporting systems under the Aviation Safety Reporting System and Related Systems award. Administered by NASA’s Human Systems Integration Division at Ames Research Center in California’s Silicon Valley, this cost-plus-fixed-fee indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract supports NASA’s Aviation Safety Reporting System and the Confidential Close Call Reporting System (C3RS).
The contract encompasses a 60-day phase-in period starting on Friday, Feb. 9, followed by a two-year base period commencing on April 9. Additionally, there are two optional periods – a two-year and a one-year option, concluding on April 8, 2029. The potential total value of the contract is approximately $38.4 million.
The Aviation Safety Reporting System, overseen by NASA Ames on behalf of the Federal Aviation Administration, gathers voluntarily submitted aviation safety incident and situation reports, notifying the FAA of associated hazards. The team at NASA Ames also investigates the root causes of each reported event. The C3RS railroad reporting system, managed by Ames, collects and analyzes reports on unsafe conditions or events in the railroad industry to proactively prevent more serious incidents in the future.
Booz Allen Hamilton will conduct the contracted work at its facilities in Sunnyvale, California. This work may involve the development of additional related systems through the maintenance and operation of voluntary, independent, and confidential incident reporting programs.
