Golden Gate Bridge

In celebration of National Bobblehead Day and the anniversary of the commencement of construction on San Francisco’s iconic Golden Gate Bridge, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled an exclusive bobblehead featuring the renowned structure. Commencing on January 5th, 1933, the construction anniversary aligns with the annual National Bobblehead Day on January 7th.

Crafted by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, this limited-edition bobble pays homage to the Golden Gate Bridge’s architectural marvel. Positioned on a water-like base created with clear resin, the bobble imparts a realistic water effect. The base elegantly displays “Golden Gate Bridge” on one side and “San Francisco, California” on the other. Limited to 1,937 individually numbered pieces, symbolizing the bridge’s groundbreaking year, these bobbles are exclusively available through the museum’s online store. Priced at $30 each, with a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order, these collector’s items are now available for shipping.

Completed in 1937, the 4,200-foot art deco suspension bridge connects San Francisco to Marin County, spanning the Golden Gate strait. Despite its name, the bridge’s vibrant “international orange” hue, visible through the iconic bay fog, has made it a distinct symbol. Initially designed in 1917 by engineer Joseph Strauss, construction commenced on January 5th, 1933, taking four years to complete. Upon its opening, it held the titles of the world’s longest and tallest suspension bridge until 1964.

Recognized globally as a symbol of San Francisco and California, the Golden Gate Bridge has earned the designation of one of the Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers. Described as “possibly the most beautiful, certainly the most photographed, bridge in the world” by Frommer’s travel guide, the bridge attracts over 10 million visitors annually. Despite its engineering marvel, the bridge is not only a functional thoroughfare for around 110,000 daily vehicles but also a picturesque attraction for pedestrians and cyclists.

Phil Sklar, co-founder, and CEO of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum expressed pride in producing the inaugural bobblehead dedicated to one of the world’s most famous bridges. The Golden Gate Bridge bobble stands as a testament to the enduring allure of this architectural masterpiece, capturing its iconic essence for collectors and enthusiasts worldwide.
