The government has issued a crucial travel advisory for Nepali citizens planning to visit Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos.
Travelers are strongly urged to verify the authenticity of business firms, employers, and companies before engaging with them. This can be done through Nepal’s diplomatic missions in these countries or by consulting the official websites of the respective organizations.

This advisory comes in response to alarming reports of Nepali nationals being trafficked to Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar. Victims are reportedly coerced into illegal labor, with their passports confiscated by employers upon arrival. Many are subjected to grueling work conditions, forced to endure up to 13-hour workdays, physical abuse, and withheld wages.
The Ministry has also noted a significant rise in rescue applications submitted by Nepali citizens to Nepal’s embassies in Yangon and Bangkok, highlighting the growing urgency of this issue.
The Ministry has urged everyone to stay vigilant against deceptive schemes promising lucrative foreign employment or offering other enticing opportunities.
It has also issued a warning to avoid falling prey to online gambling platforms, call center scams, cryptocurrency fraud, and suspicious job offers in Bangkok, particularly those originating from dubious IT companies.
