In response to the urgent call for environmental preservation, enhanced infrastructure, and sustainable tourism practices, Bali, in collaboration with Indonesian tourism authorities, has launched a significant initiative. Starting February 14th, a new entry tax for all foreign tourists will be implemented, aiming to address various crucial issues while improving the overall visitor experience on the Island of Gods.

In recent years, discussions have centered around protecting the environment, managing mass tourism, addressing the growing waste problem, and ensuring fair benefits for local communities from the booming tourism sector. Central to these talks is the goal of promoting greater respect for and engagement with local culture among travelers.

The Bali Tourist Tax, set at Indonesian Rupiah 150,000 per person (approximately $10 USD), applies to all foreign tourists, regardless of age. This fee directly contributes to initiatives dedicated to preserving Balinese customs, traditions, arts, and the island’s unique natural environment.

To simplify the payment process and ensure transparency, tourists can pay the entry tax online through the official Bali Tourism Website: lovebali.baliprov.go.id. It’s crucial to use the official platform to avoid fraudulent schemes targeting unsuspecting visitors. Alternatively, the tax can be paid upon arrival at airports and harbors, though prepayment online is strongly encouraged for a smoother entry process.

The revenue generated from the entry tax will be directed towards safeguarding and promoting Balinese customs, traditions, arts, and the island’s natural environment. These funds will support various initiatives aimed at maintaining Bali’s cultural and ecological integrity, thereby enhancing the overall visitor experience.

The introduction of the entry tax underscores Bali’s dedication to responsible tourism practices and environmental conservation. This move encourages travelers to contribute to the preservation of Bali’s cultural and natural heritage, ensuring a sustainable and fulfilling tourism experience for all.
