Starting in April, FlixBus has declared a significant expansion in its partnership with Cymru Coaches, adding Bristol Airport as a new destination. The company has already made tickets available for this service, with prices starting at an affordable £2.99.

Overview of the New Service
The new FlixBus service is scheduled to operate five times a day, linking Bristol Airport with several key locations such as Newport, Cardiff city center, Cardiff East Park and Ride, Bridgend, Swansea University, and Swansea city center. This expansion is crucial as it not only extends the route network but also introduces Cardiff East Park and Ride into the FlixBus system. This move is aimed at providing more sustainable and economically viable travel options between Bristol city center and South Wales.

Strategic Insights from FlixBus UK’s Managing Director
Andreas Schorling, Managing Director of FlixBus UK, shared that adding Bristol Airport to their network is a strategic move aligned with the company’s growth objectives. He anticipates a high demand for this route, especially with the peak travel season approaching. Schorling referenced the success of existing airport routes such as Heathrow, Gatwick, and Manchester, noting that expansion to Bristol Airport represents a significant growth opportunity for FlixBus.

Network Expansion and Passenger Impact
FlixBus’s network now encompasses over 60 destinations, with regular services connecting major locations like London Gatwick and Heathrow Airport to Bristol and Wales. In 2023, Bristol Airport witnessed a record-breaking 9.8 million passengers, marking it the busiest year in the airport’s history.

Commitment to Sustainability
In line with its sustainability goals, FlixBus has introduced pioneering electric coach services across various cities in England and Wales, affirming its commitment to decarbonization and cleaner transport options.

Enhancing Partnerships
Cymru Coaches, a partner of FlixBus since the summer of 2022, is set to expand its role within the network. This includes deploying a new Van Hool vehicle adorned in FlixBus green, as shared by Steve Pearce, Managing Director at Cymru Coaches. He expressed his excitement about the growing partnership and the inclusion of services to Bristol Airport.

Continued Collaboration and Future Goals
Schorling praised the consistent and high-quality service provided by Cymru Coaches over nearly two years, expressing optimism for future collaborations. Rupert Lawrie, Commercial Director at Bristol Airport, emphasized the airport’s commitment to increasing public transport usage among its passengers. He lauded the new FlixBus service as a crucial addition that will benefit numerous travelers commuting between South Wales and the airport.
