Over the last four decades, the New Forest Collection, under the ownership of the Shammas family, has become a significant presence in the hospitality landscape by acquiring esteemed properties like Burley Manor, Moorhill House, Bartley Lodge, Forest Lodge, Beaulieu Inn, and The Drift. This collection of hotels, known for their charm and service, recently entered into a transformative partnership with Rockingham Partners, helmed by hospitality stalwarts Mike Lashmar and Simon Maguire. This collaboration marks a pivotal moment for the collection, which was considering a sale, presenting a new chapter aimed at enhancing the legacy and experience offered by these hotels.

The partnership’s immediate focus is on revitalizing the aesthetic and operational aspects of each hotel, heralded by the reimagining of Moorhill House in Burley. This endeavor is spearheaded by Emily Tyers, a celebrated interior designer whose notable work on Burley Manor in 2015 garnered widespread acclaim. The vision for Moorhill House, and subsequently other properties within the collection, signifies a commitment to not only preserving the unique essence of each hotel but also elevating the guest experience through thoughtful design and investment.

The Shammas family views the collaboration with Rockingham as a strategic move to further entrench their holdings in the New Forest area, a region they have passionately invested in. This partnership is seen as an opportunity to build on the collection’s success while ensuring its sustainability and legacy.

Rockingham Partners, co-founded by Simon Maguire and Mike Lashmar, brings a wealth of experience in the luxury lifestyle and hospitality sectors. Maguire, with a background in leading roles at various prestigious hotel groups, and Lashmar, known for his financial expertise in the industry, aim to infuse the New Forest Collection with renewed vigor. Their approach is holistic, focusing on enhancing operational efficiencies, guest experiences, and environmental sustainability.

The introduction of new leadership roles within the collection, staffed by individuals with proven track records in prominent hotel chains, signals a comprehensive strategy aimed at redefining luxury and service. This strategic pivot not only promises to invigorate the New Forest Collection’s market position but also contributes to the broader tourism and travel industry by offering differentiated and sustainable hospitality experiences.
