The Kleindienst Group’s flagship project, The Heart of Europe, has entered into an agreement with IHG Hotels & Resorts, a leading global hotel company, to inaugurate and oversee the InterContinental Resort Portofino, The Heart of Europe on The World Islands in Dubai. This collaboration signifies the debut of the prestigious InterContinental brand’s resort property in Dubai, underscoring the company’s dedication to delivering luxurious experiences in key leisure destinations within the region.
This significant agreement further solidifies the partnership between the two entities, marking the addition of the third hotel to the joint portfolio of IHG Hotels & Resorts and The Heart of Europe. It aligns seamlessly with The Heart of Europe’s vision, echoing The World Islands’ mission to foster unity among diverse cultures while showcasing unrivaled global excellence in architecture, development, innovation, and sustainability.

Presently in development, the InterContinental Resort Portofino, situated within The Heart of Europe, seamlessly melds contemporary Mediterranean aesthetics with traditional Italian influences, drawing inspiration from the lively hues and allure of Portofino and the Italian Riviera. Characterized by vibrant facades adorned with balconies, the resort incorporates a blend of modern conveniences, including ancient Feng Shui principles to cultivate a serene and welcoming ambiance.
Anticipated to unveil its grand debut in early 2026, the resort promises to emerge as a coastal sanctuary, boasting 466 meticulously designed rooms and suites alongside an extensive range of offerings. These include authentic Italian gastronomic experiences and a captivating atrium showcasing marine life through expansive floor-to-ceiling aquariums spanning six floors. This feature forms an integral part of The Heart of Europe Coral Institute, a pioneering center dedicated to marine life restoration and environmental sustainability, particularly focused on coral reefs and aquatic habitats. Each unit within the InterContinental Resort Portofino affords sweeping sea views, providing guests with an immersive experience amidst the breathtaking coastal panorama, while indulging in the luxurious amenities and bespoke experiences offered by this exceptional destination.
Moreover, the resort will feature a rustic rooftop garden providing panoramic vistas of the Dubai skyline, offering guests a tranquil and picturesque retreat to unwind. IHG Hotels & Resorts currently oversees 109 properties across eight distinct brands in the Middle East, encompassing InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, Hotel Indigo, voco, and Six Senses.
