Union Minister of State for Steel and Industries, Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, has underscored the vast tourism potential within Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Siang district. During his visit to the ‘Vibrant Village’ of Gelling, situated near the Sino-India border, Varma praised the region’s stunning natural landscape and its year-round, tourist-friendly climate.
The Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP), launched as part of the 2022 Union Budget, is designed to improve infrastructure and connectivity in sparsely populated border villages across India’s northern borders.

Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to the development of northeastern regions, Varma explained that his visit was aligned with directives from the PM’s office, which requires a Union minister to visit one northeastern state every two weeks to monitor the implementation of central schemes.
In response to a suggestion for developing a Buddha Park in the Gelling Circle to boost tourism, the minister assured that the proposal would be carefully reviewed.
