Today, Kathy Hochul, the Governor of New York, declared that the state of New York State in 2022 has welcomed a record of 291.5 million visitors. It’s the largest number of visitors that this US state has welcomed in history. This generated over $78.6 billion in direct spending followed by $123 billion in total financial impact.

These statistics signifies an astounding rise over the year before i.e., 2021 and exceeds the earlier records created in 2019, before the pandemic set in following the historic investments in economic development, tourism, public safety, transportation, and other crucial sectors by the governor. The information published today in a series of reports by Tourism Economics.

Governor Hochul said that the pandemic recovery of New York has been one that would get a place in the history books, by welcoming an unparalleled 291 million visitors, generating around billions of dollars in terms of direct outlays to their state. She also added that they’re writing the next chapter in their success story.

In three years’ time from when the pandemic crushed tourism to a complete halt, they have made transformative investments to elevate businesses, aid the tourism and hospitality workers create a sturdier tourism in New York.
