Last weekend was a big one in the world of golf. Despite Team USA missing out on retaining the Ryder Cup, the 44th edition of the tournament was packed full of impressive displays, plenty of action, and lots of sweeping shots of the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club.

As the team heads home, online betting site Betway Sport has taken a look at which golf courses are the most popular on this side of the pond.

The research analyzed Instagram hashtag data for the top 100 golf courses in the US, to determine which are the most picturesque greens to play on. The team at Betway Sport has also provided some top tips for those golfers heading to a new course for the very first time.

Riviera, Los Angeles is crowned the most picturesque golf course in the US

Founded in 1926, The Riviera Country Club has always been a highly revered course, so it’s no surprise that it’s been crowned the most picturesque golf course in the US, with a total of 32,315 hashtags on the platform.

The course is ranked as one of the top 50 in the world, and as the site of the PGA Tour’s Genesis Open, it welcomes some of golf’s biggest stars to its green each year. The club is also set to host the men’s and women’s Olympics golf tournament in 2028.

In second place is Augusta National, located in Georgia. The course is home to the only major golf tournament to be played in the same location each year – The Masters. Known for being one of the most exclusive golf courses in the world, only a lucky few have been fortunate to play on its fairways. Surrounded by azaleas, magnolias, and dogwoods, the pristine course is very popular on Instagram, with 19,041 hashtags on the platform.

With 15,355 hashtags on Instagram, California’s Pebble Beach has ranked as the third most popular golf course. Often cited as one of the most beautiful courses in the world, Pebble Beach is surrounded by water, with views spanning across Carmel Bay and the Pacific Ocean beyond. The course has hosted the US Open six times, and is set to welcome more of the golfing elite to its green for the 2027 US Open.
