On a recent Friday, a minor tremor, registering at a magnitude of 4.8, originated just outside New Jersey, as confirmed by the US Geological Survey (USGS). This seismic event appeared to have spared the area from any immediate harm or casualties.

The quake’s origins were pinpointed approximately 7 km north of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, stirring noticeable concern.

Residents in Brooklyn experienced the tremor firsthand, with the event causing vibrations that agitated the contents of cupboards and various fixtures, as observed by a correspondent from AFP.

During this time, an ongoing United Nations Security Council discussion, centered on the situation in Gaza and taking place at the organization’s New York City headquarters, saw a momentary halt due to the earthquake’s impact.

The seismic activity was felt across a wide area, with individuals from Philadelphia to New York and eastward across Long Island turning to social media to share their experiences.

In response to the event, the Empire State Building reassured the public via its X social media account, stating, “I AM FINE.”
