At IUPUI, the Indiana University School of Health & Human Sciences, organized an all-star lineup of all the top leaders of Indianapolis in the local sports and tourism on Wednesday’s – NEXTGEN Indy: Building Brand Around Sports and Entertainment.

Ms. Judith Thomas, the Deputy Mayor of Indianapolis, moderated the event. The event brought together more than 200 participants to Hine Hall Auditorium to pay attention to the panelists like Leonard Hoops, president and CEO of Visit Indy, Patrick Talty, president of Indiana Sports Corp, Patrick Tamm, president and CEO of the Indiana Restaurant & Lodging Association, and Taylor Schaffer, president and CEO of Downtown Indy Inc.

The panelists’ conversation aimed on a latest report’s insights produced by the IUPUI Sports Innovation Institute, a partnership between many schools and units at IUPUI that uses faculty and student expertise to maximum advantage to uncover original solutions to disputes in the sports and tourism.

David Pierce, director of the Sports Innovation Institute as well as the professor of sport management in the Department of Events, Tourism and Sport Management said that this event couldn’t have been arranged without the relationships between their school and the Indianapolis tourism. The impending ten years of Indy, innovative hotels, stadiums, etc. — is mainly motivated by the tourism industry of the city and, in many ways, the strategy of sports and tourism of the city is dependent on the work they do in their department.
