NH Hotel Group set to reopen properties across the globe

NH Hotel Group has decided to launch a gradual reopening plan for all its hotels around the world. The company informed that the plan is outlined keeping in mind the ease of travel restrictions in most countries across the globe and with the aim of restarting activity with increasing demand. As of now, the company has decided to open 55% of its total portfolio open during the month of June which equals to around 200 hotels out of the 361 it operates worldwide.

In light of the coronavirus pandemic, the hotel operated only 12 properties in southern Europe. Majority of these hotels were reserved for individuals providing essential services during the lockdown period. On the other hand, the company operated over 40 properties in the north of the continent so far as a result of the faster easing of restrictions in these countries. However, operations continue to remain suspended in Latin America, the last region impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. It can be expected that the continent will be the last one to recover its activity. NH Hotel Group has also begun to resume its activity in the north of the continent, such as the Netherlands and Germany among others over the past few.

For the June schedule, the company has planned to reopen 57% of the hotels it operates in southern Europe which amounts to 100 out of the 177 hotels. The current goal of the company is to reopen 60 hotels in Spain, 27 in Italy, nine in Portugal and four in France by the end of the month. It has also resumed operations at NH Nacional Hotel in Madrid, making it the company’s first property to reopen this month. The facilities serve as a model for monitoring the new protocols implemented by the company to ensure maximum health and safety in all its hotels.

NH Hotels also plans to double the number of the operating hotels in the mentioned unit by the end of June reaching up to 83 hotels out of the 127 operating in these countries. But as Latin America was the last continent to be affected by the coronavirus pandemic and the last to enforce mobility restrictions imposed by the health crisis, hotels in the region will also be the last ones to reopen.
