In the middle of rising concerns surrounding the outbreak of Nipah virus in Kozhikode, the northern district of Kerala, the tourism sector continues to function effortlessly and safely, as per the State Tourism Minister, Mr. P A Mohamed Riyas. In spite of the challenges, all events that were scheduled beforehand, like the Champions Boat League and few others, are going ahead as planned, gesturing the kick-start of the peak inbound tourist season in the state.
Riyas also said that the current condition in Kozhikode, where few affected cases of Nipah virus were reported so far, remains completely under control. The fast and coordinated containment efforts actually attributed to this success which was undertaken by authorities, PTI reported.
The minister also observed that the tourism in Kerala is in close communication with the hospitality and travel industry, getting positive response showing that all activities related to tourism are continuing as planned before.
Also, he highlighted the powerful health sector infrastructure of Kerala and its history of successful responses to emergencies related to medical situations, assuring the tourists once again with their safety. Kerala Tourism is once again back on track to attain extraordinary growth by the end 2023 with 20.1 percent increase in domestic arrivals in early 2023.
