Noida’s New Airport Secures IndiGo as Primary Carrier with Signed MoU

Noida International Airport (NIA) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IndiGo, marking IndiGo as the first carrier to be associated with the airport. This collaboration underscores IndiGo’s dedication to bolstering the burgeoning aviation market in India. 

As part of the agreement, Noida International Airport (NIA) and IndiGo will collaborate to enhance and expand air connectivity both within Uttar Pradesh and to destinations beyond. The partnership will focus on exploring innovative initiatives to improve operational
efficiency and elevate the overall customer experience. 

The collaboration with IndiGo, India’s largest airline and one of the world’s fastest-growing
carriers, will provide an extensive route network for the public and contribute to the growth
of business opportunities in the region. 

Mr. Christoph Schnellmann, Chief Executive Officer of Noida International Airport,
expressed that by leveraging IndiGo’s extensive route network and expertise, they aim to
provide passengers with unparalleled connectivity and an exceptional travel experience. He
said, “We are excited to sign this MoU with IndiGo, which has a strong base both in
domestic and international markets. The partnership between NIA and IndiGo will not only
help bolster air connectivity but also innovate, ensuring an exceptional customer
experience for our customers alike.” 

Mr. Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer of IndiGo, expressed their excitement about
the MoU with Noida International Airport, making IndiGo the launch carrier at the
upcoming airport. He said, “As India’s leading airline, IndiGo has always been at the
forefront of enhancing connectivity and giving wings to the nation. Our operations at NIA
will provide the people of Uttar Pradesh with seamless connectivity across our unparalleled
network. We look forward to the inauguration of the new airport in 2024 and will continue
to work with NIA management to explore innovative ways to deliver an affordable, on-time,
and hassle-free travel experience across the 6E network.”

The initial phase of Noida International Airport, featuring one runway and one terminal
capable of accommodating 12 million passengers annually, is set to be operational by the

end of 2024. Upon completion of the fourth phase, the airport’s capacity will expand to
handle up to 70 million passengers per year.
