Norwegian Cruise Line has cancelled the planned visit to Cozumel for passengers onboard the Norwegian Encore due to pier damage. The visit to the Mexican port, which was scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, has been replaced with a visit to Falmouth, Jamaica. Norwegian announced this change in a statement to guests, explaining that Falmouth offers a vibrant Caribbean experience, complete with beaches and popular shore excursions, while providing a unique Jamaican cultural and historical touch. This change has affected the Norwegian Encore’s Western Caribbean itinerary, but it also brings an exciting new destination for passengers.
The decision to cancel the Cozumel visit was made after Norwegian Cruise Line discovered localized pier damage in the port. As a result, the Norwegian Encore, which embarked on a seven-night cruise to the Western Caribbean, had to make a last-minute change to its itinerary. Instead of docking in Cozumel on Wednesday, the ship will now visit Falmouth, Jamaica, offering guests a new and vibrant destination. While the change may be disappointing for those looking forward to Cozumel, Falmouth promises a similar Caribbean atmosphere, with its lively beaches and rich Jamaican culture.

While Cozumel is known for its beautiful beaches and diving spots, Falmouth provides a distinctively Jamaican vibe with access to some of the island’s most iconic attractions. Guests onboard the Norwegian Encore will have the opportunity to explore the local beaches, take part in popular shore excursions, and experience the island’s rich history. From exploring local markets to enjoying the lush tropical surroundings, Falmouth promises an unforgettable day for passengers.
While the change in plans means that Cozumel is no longer on the itinerary, the visit to Grand Cayman will proceed as scheduled on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025. Guests will still have the chance to enjoy the stunning beaches and explore the island, with the added bonus of an earlier arrival in George Town. Norwegian Cruise Line has confirmed that the ship will arrive in Grand Cayman two hours earlier than initially planned, giving passengers more time to enjoy their shore excursions and independent exploration.

As a result of the change in itinerary, all shore excursions booked through Norwegian for Cozumel will be automatically cancelled. Guests who had booked these excursions will receive a full monetary refund, which will be credited to their onboard accounts. Norwegian Cruise Line reassured passengers that they would still have access to a variety of exciting shore excursions at their new destination in Falmouth, Jamaica, and that the ship’s crew would be on hand to help ensure that everyone had a fantastic time during their time ashore.
Despite the disappointment of missing Cozumel, Norwegian Cruise Line has taken steps to ensure that guests on the Norwegian Encore still have an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. The company communicated the change to passengers as soon as possible and reassured them that their safety and satisfaction are top priorities. Norwegian also mentioned that while the visit to Cozumel is no longer possible, passengers would still be able to enjoy a fantastic Caribbean cruise experience with the new stop in Falmouth, Jamaica.
