Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), a trailblazer in global cruise travel with a 57-year legacy of pushing boundaries, joyfully welcomed the second ship in the award-winning Prima class, Norwegian Viva, back to Miami after a triumphant voyage.

The official christening of the newest ship took place in Miami on November 28, 2023, featuring exclusive performances and festivities. David J. Herrera, President of Norwegian Cruise Line, expressed the significance of christening Norwegian Viva in Miami, the company’s hometown, and shared appreciation for the collective effort of the NCL team, partners, and crew in bringing the ship to life.

Over 1,500 guests joined the christening ceremony at the LEED® Gold Certified terminal at PortMiami, following Norwegian Viva’s debut in August and its inaugural European voyages. The Prima Class, committed to innovative ship design and amenities, reflects NCL’s dedication to prioritizing the guest experience.

Harry Sommer, President & CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., highlighted the milestone year with the introduction of next-generation ships across all three cruise brands. He emphasized that Norwegian Viva enhances the world-class fleet, delivering exceptional vacation experiences based on outstanding guest satisfaction scores.

Luis Fonsi, the godfather of Norwegian Viva and renowned musician, officially christened the vessel in a ceremony symbolized by breaking a champagne bottle across the ship’s hull. The celebration continued with an entertainment lineup featuring Fonsi and other talented performers with Miami and Latin roots.

The christening festivities included the dedication of the Knut Kloster Hall at the NCL Terminal, honoring the company’s founder and showcasing its 57-year history of innovation in the cruise industry.

Norwegian Viva, with a length of 965 feet and a capacity for 3,099 guests, boasts unique features such as the three-story Viva Speedway, Indulge Food Hall, and an impressive art collection. After select voyages from Miami, the ship will homeport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, starting December 15, 2023, offering port-intensive seven-day Caribbean voyages until March 2024. In April 2024, Norwegian Viva will sail Mediterranean and Greek Isles itineraries.

NCL’s year-round ‘Free at Sea’ offer provides additional value with benefits such as unlimited open bar, specialty dining, shore excursion credits, complimentary Wi-Fi, discounted rates for the third and fourth guests, and free roundtrip airfare for the second guest.

To commemorate the all-star entertainment lineup at Norwegian Viva’s christening, NCL has curated a Live it Up! Spotify Playlist inspired by top Latin music superstars.
