The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), governing all tiger reserves in the country, has urged chief wildlife wardens of all states to submit agreement of the Supreme Court orders against using rest houses in forests and protected areas for any tourism related purposes.
NTCA member-secretary Anup Kumar Nayak has asked chief wildlife wardens to provide details of permanent tourism facilities including night stay in core areas of tiger reserves.
In Vidarbha, Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary, which is now part of 648.68sqkm Navegaon-Nagzira Tiger Reserve (NNTR), a huge tourist complex has existed deep inside the forest.
This complex is being operated by Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra (FDCM). In Melghat Tiger Reserve (MTR), a lot of guesthouses in the core like Kolkhas are offered for tourism purposes.
