New York City is gearing up for an exciting culinary event that is set to benefit the local travel and tourism industry significantly. The first-ever Thai Fest, centered on Thai cuisine, is scheduled for April 20. It will take place on 6th Avenue between 29th and 30th Streets in Manhattan, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This unique food festival will not only offer a glimpse into Thailand’s rich cultural flavors and traditions but also promises to draw visitors from across the city and beyond. With 12 local restaurants participating, the event will showcase a diverse range of Thai food and drink, providing a platform for both lesser-known and popular eateries to shine.

Sponsored by the beverage brand Chi Forest, Thai Fest is a sister event to Dragon Fest, which celebrates Chinese culture. Both festivals were initiated by Biubiu Xu, a prominent entrepreneur and cultural advocate known for her immersive pop-up experiences in NYC.

“The success of Dragon Fest, which annually celebrates Chinese culture, inspired us to broaden our horizons and include other Asian cultures,” explained Xu. “Thai Fest is an outcome of our team’s exploration of various Asian cuisines during Dragon Fest.”

Thai Fest is expected to attract thousands of attendees, offering them around 35 different food items from various Thai restaurants. With free admission and food and drinks priced between $8-$15, the festival provides an accessible cultural experience that will likely boost local business and foster greater appreciation for Thai cuisine in NYC.

Biubiu Xu highlighted the uniqueness of Thai cuisine in NYC: “What makes Thai cuisine special here is the blend of authenticity and innovation, with offerings from underrepresented restaurants and well-known establishments alike.” This celebration of culinary diversity is anticipated to enhance NYC’s reputation as a top foodie destination, benefiting both the tourism and travel industries by attracting more visitors and encouraging cultural exchange.
