Village Halloween Parade

The NYPD is gearing up for the 50th Annual Village Halloween Parade, a long-standing tradition in Greenwich Village.

Barricades have been set up along Sixth Avenue in preparation for the event.

This parade, which started as a small neighborhood gathering, has grown into one of the most popular Halloween parades in New York City.

The parade is known for its diverse and creative costumes, with some participants even performing iconic acts like Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” While the parade is a festive celebration, the NYPD is taking measures to ensure the safety of attendees. They have planned an overnight sweep of the parade route and will have a strong police presence during the event. The parade route will be closed to traffic from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., and several side streets will also be off-limits to traffic.

In light of ongoing protests related to the Israel-Hamas conflict, the NYPD is vigilant about any potential disruptions. While there are no credible threats to the city, the police will be closely monitoring the event to prevent any acts of violence or clashes between protesters and parade-goers.

As thousands of people prepare to enjoy the Halloween festivities, the hope is that both newcomers and seasoned parade attendees will have a fantastic and safe time celebrating this special 50th anniversary of the Village Halloween Parade.
