OneTAC Pioneers India’s First Experiential Tourism Circuit In Udupi, Using Digital Public Infrastructure To Empower Local Creators

Published on November 22, 2025

The landscape of experiential travel in India was fundamentally transformed with the official introduction of the OneTAC (Tourism, Arts & Culture) Udupi Experience Circuit. This significant undertaking, which stands as the nation’s first comprehensive tourism experience circuit, was celebrated at the prestigious Bangalore Tech Summit, marking a pivotal moment for the convergence of culture, technology, and community development. The initiative has been formally endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, operating under the umbrella of the globally recognized Incredible India campaign, thereby signaling its national importance and strategic alignment with promoting the country’s diverse cultural wealth. The launch event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Prashant Prakash, who serves as the Chair of the Karnataka Vision Group on Startups and is a Partner at Accel, along with Dr. Trilok Chandra, IAS, the distinguished Secretary – Tourism for the Government of Karnataka.

The establishment of this circuit is considered a groundbreaking development, primarily because it leverages the concept of digital public infrastructure (DPI) to facilitate a scalable, replicable model of community-led tourism. This methodology shifts the focus of the tourism economy, ensuring that the benefits of travel are distributed directly to the micro-entrepreneurs and local creators who form the authentic backbone of the cultural experience. It was articulated by Prashant Prakash during the proceedings that both tourism and culture are regarded as immensely powerful engines capable of driving inclusive growth across regions. Furthermore, it was conveyed that the application of a true DPI mindset would serve to empower local creators and firmly position Karnataka as a frontrunner in the specialized sector of experiential tourism. The Udupi Experience Circuit is thus not merely a travel platform; it is, in essence, a foundational digital public infrastructure designed to cultivate and support the entire experience economy.

The Collaborative Ecosystem Powering Local Livelihoods

The comprehensive scope and robust operational framework of the OneTAC Udupi Experience Circuit were made possible through the dedicated formation of a formidable coalition of ecosystem partners. This collaborative structure was strategically established to ensure that every facet of community engagement, technological deployment, and on-ground logistics could be managed with expertise and precision. The key organizations anchoring this monumental effort include the CulKey Foundation, which has taken the lead in focusing on cultural preservation, specialized placemaking, and the vital development of the local ecosystem.

Joining this core mission is Samhita, an entity concentrating on community mobilization, livelihood creation, and the meticulous measurement of social impact, ensuring that the initiative’s reach is both deep and sustainable. Technological access for the last mile of travel is being adeptly managed by GoodPass, which provides essential discovery and distribution technologies. Concurrently, RubiX functions as the crucial supplier aggregation platform, streamlining the onboarding and management processes for the experience entrepreneurs. Finally, the practical operational aspects, including hospitality and vital on-ground logistics, are provided by the Paradise Group. It is through this integrated partnership that a scalable model for community-led experiential tourism is being diligently developed.

Udupi: A Living Cultural Landscape Chosen for Expansion

The selection of Udupi as the inaugural site for the OneTAC Experience Circuit was meticulously considered, owing to its unique and compelling amalgamation of deep-rooted heritage, breathtaking natural splendour, and potent creative energy. This region, situated in the heart of Coastal Karnataka, presents a microcosm of the state’s cultural dynamism, making it an ideal starting point for a model intended for future replication. The decision to commence the initiative in Udupi was highlighted as a reflection of the state government’s unwavering commitment to the principles of community-led tourism and the essential revival of cultural practices. This foundational step is closely linked to the imminent launch of the Karnataka Centre for Cultural Diplomacy (KCCD). It was remarked by Dr. Trilok Chandra, IAS, that initiatives such as OneTAC will be instrumental in positioning the living heritage of Karnataka prominently upon the global stage, aligning with broader strategic goals for cultural promotion.

The Vast Spectrum of Curated Experiential Offerings

The OneTAC Udupi launch provided a detailed unveiling of the wide spectrum of highly curated experiences that have been developed for travelers. These experiences are deeply rooted in the identity and place of Udupi and the broader Tulu Nadu region, inviting visitors to partake in authentic, immersive journeys.
