ONYX Hospitality Group, a distinguished leader in hotel management, is launching a roadshow in China from May 27th to 31st, 2024, to engage with the booming tourism sector and strengthen its existing ties with the Chinese market. The roadshow will cover four major cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Guangzhou, offering opportunities for networking, insightful presentations, and collaborative discussions. Building on the success of its inaugural event in 2023, this initiative underscores ONYX’s commitment to expanding its influence in China and enhancing guest experiences while maintaining strong relationships with Chinese travelers.

The roadshow will leverage ONYX’s well-established presence in China, where it operates ten properties. The focus will be on demonstrating the progress since last year and highlighting the offerings of ONYX’s Thai properties. Following the reopening of Chinese borders in early 2023, ONYX has been proactive in attracting Chinese tourists back to Thailand, making China its leading source market once again. In the first quarter of 2024, Chinese travelers accounted for 10% of ONYX’s total business, a significant increase from 5% in the previous year, with a 150% year-over-year growth in revenue from this market.

In 2023, Thailand welcomed 3.51 million Chinese tourists. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) forecasts that this number will rise to 8 million in 2024, doubling the previous year’s figure and presenting a substantial opportunity for ONYX. With its diverse range of brands, including Amari, OZO, Shama, and Oriental Residence, ONYX is well-equipped to cater to the evolving preferences of Chinese travelers. Select properties from each brand will be featured at the roadshow, ensuring a varied and comprehensive presentation.

Additionally, ONYX will showcase recent updates and expansions across Thailand and Malaysia, including new developments like Shama Rayong in Thailand, Shama Suasana Johor Bahru and OZO Medini in Malaysia, and Shama Hub locations in Hong Kong and Hangzhou. An upcoming launch in Laos, Amari Vientiane, is also planned, further expanding ONYX’s footprint in the region.
