Heavy rains have led to the cancellation of over 500 flights at Dubai International Airport, causing widespread delays and disruptions.

Due to unprecedented rainfall, Flydubai has announced the cancellation of all flights scheduled to depart from Dubai International Airport until 10 AM on April 17. This was confirmed by a Flydubai representative in a communication to local media. Dubai International Airport, renowned as one of the world’s busiest air travel hubs, is grappling with severe disruptions. Over 500 flights, both arriving and departing, have been affected, with numerous cancellations, delays, and diversions reported.

The airline detailed that during the disruption, travelers who do not have Dubai as their endpoint will be unable to commence their journeys. “We are closely monitoring the situation and will update our operations as conditions improve. This approach will help in restoring full operational capacity and allow for the integration of inbound flights from various locations,” the spokesperson noted.

Furthermore, Flydubai has committed to providing a full refund to all passengers affected by the cancellations. This move comes as a response to the severe weather conditions that have overwhelmed the region since Tuesday, causing significant logistical challenges at Dubai International Airport, including the diversion of all inbound flights and widespread delays.

The United Arab Emirates, particularly Dubai, has experienced extraordinary weather conditions, with heavy rains leading to extensive flooding. The impact has been felt across various sectors, disrupting not only the aviation industry but also urban infrastructure. Key shopping centers and public transport systems, such as the metro, have faced operational issues due to the flooding.

Social media has been abuzz with dramatic scenes of the havoc, including vehicles being washed away and retail establishments flooded. These incidents underline the scale of the storm’s impact across the country, affecting both local residents and international visitors.
