Loganair has a fund, called the Green Fund, for £23,472 to sustain six UK community projects focused on the environment. This fund will allow local projects to lower carbon emissions, increase the use of renewable energy, and develop sustainable habitats. On the Isle of Lewis, Borve Maritime Museum will receive £5,000 to install a rooftop solar photovoltaic system. The renewable energy project will help the community-run museum reduce electricity consumption and lower its environmental impact.

The Community Tree Planting programme in Inverness has also been awarded £5,000 to support woodland creation and habitat restoration. The initiative will use volunteer-led activities to expand green spaces and strengthen biodiversity across locations in Scotland.

In Aberdeen, Beannachar will receive £3,757 to replace an outdated electric vehicle charging point. The upgrade will support the organisation’s work with adults with learning disabilities while improving access to cleaner transport solutions within the community.

In Edinburgh, LifeCare has been awarded £2,715 to install a new electric vehicle charging point. The project will help reduce emissions linked to the charity’s community outreach activities and Meals on Wheels services.

Meanwhile, Winchester Cathedral will receive £5,000 towards the installation of solar panels across its historic buildings. The renewable energy investment aims to reduce operational emissions while supporting the cathedral’s wider sustainability goals.

On the Isle of Man, Thie My Shee community orchard will receive £2,000 to plant fruit trees and create accessible growing spaces. The project will encourage local food production while improving opportunities for community participation and environmental education.

Together, the six funded projects represent a wide range of sustainability efforts, including renewable energy generation, low-emission transport, biodiversity protection and community food growing. Through the GreenSkies Community Fund, Loganair continues to support local organisations working towards a greener and more sustainable future across its regional network.

The GreenSkies Community Fund is a key part of Loganair’s broader environmental strategy, which focuses on reducing emissions, supporting sustainable aviation solutions and achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2040.
