Para-swimmer Yip Pin Xiu unveils Madame Tussauds Wax figure at Singapore

Singapore’s star para swimmer, Yip Pin Xiu, unveiled her Madame Tussauds wax figure at the iconic Singapore Sports Hub. She’s the first Singaporean para-athlete to receive this honor. Yip, known for her historic gold medals at the 2008 Beijing, 2016 Rio, and 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, also holds two world records. The unveiling coincides with her participation in the 2024 Paralympics in Paris.

Expressing her honor, Yip hopes the wax figure inspires Singaporeans to pursue their dreams despite challenges. The figure captures her triumphant moment at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics podium, authentically replicating her winning smile and national tracksuit.

Crafted over six months by Madame Tussauds, the wax figure, displayed in the exact wheelchair model Yip uses, emphasizes inclusivity in sports. Yip, along with Mr. Edwin Tong, unveiled her figure at Singapore Sports Hub. Madame Tussauds Singapore, marking its 10th anniversary, will showcase the wax figure from February 6, 2024. Special bundles, including admission and Yip’s book, will support the development of future para-athletes.

Madame Tussauds, known for immersive experiences, also collaborates with SDSC for community outreach initiatives, offering discounts for special needs guests. The wax museum has exciting plans for its 10th-anniversary celebrations, featuring over 80 figures, including local and international stars.
