Parks Madness Round One on the Parks Channel sees tight combats in 2024

The 2024 Parks Madness Round One on the Parks Channel highlighted hard-fought combats from coast to coast and some tight competitions, but there were no Cinderella shockers for the contenders, who ruled their contestants. Yosemite, Zion and Acadia all overpowered their first-round challengers by no less than 90% of the polls. With Yellowstone receiving a first-round goodbye, their contest still has all four of the celebrated parks whose names are on the brackets, accompanied by perpetual driving forces, which are the Grand Canyon and the Great Smokies.

The No. 2 contenders also passed with flying colors, even though Mount Rainier confronted a scrappier-than-anticipated Petrified Forest, whose strength demonstrated anything but petrified. No. 3 contender Grand Canyon also had a hard-hitting contest. In spite of a yearly visit benefit of 5 million to below 400,000, the ‘Mountain Lying Down’ gave newcomer Kenai Fjords a chance of combat.

Round One witnessed a couple of disappointments. The renowned Fat Bears of No. 7 contender Katmai National Park dashed into early dormancy, not able to overwhelm the commanding geologic powers of No. 10 contender Hawai’i Volcanoes.
