Phu Quoc, recently recognized as the world’s second most beautiful island, attracted over 611,770 visitors in January, including 124,854 international tourists. The island’s tourism sector generated approximately VND2.5 trillion (US$98.8 million) in revenue during the month.
Foreign arrivals to Phu Quoc made up the majority of international travelers visiting Kien Giang Province.

Across the Mekong Delta province, total visitor numbers exceeded 897,160 in January, with 126,175 being foreign tourists, achieving 8.4% of the province’s annual tourism target, as reported by the provincial Department of Tourism.
Overall tourism earnings for the month surpassed VND2.9 trillion, contributing to 10.4% of the yearly revenue goal.
Phu Quoc has been chosen as the host destination for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting in 2027. In preparation for this prestigious event, the province is making significant investments to enhance its infrastructure, including improvements to its international airport, hospitality sector, entertainment hubs, transportation networks, and port facilities.
In a testament to its global appeal, Phu Quoc was ranked the second most beautiful island in the world last year by readers of Travel + Leisure, an esteemed American travel magazine, placing just behind the Maldives.

Meanwhile, Kien Giang is ramping up tourism promotion efforts by strengthening collaborations with Ho Chi Minh City and other Mekong Delta provinces while also forging new international partnerships to draw more global travelers to the region.
