2024 is not only a pivotal year for the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games but also a year brimming with global sports events captivating audiences worldwide. From Italy hosting the inaugural stages of the Tour de France, sparking excitement among cycling fans, to the buzz of UEFA Euro 2024 beckoning football aficionados to Germany, and Accra hosting the 13th African Games amidst its bustling city life, these are the must-see events for your 2024 calendar.

Six Nations Championship
Running from 2 February to 16 March across England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France, and Italy, the Six Nations Championship stands as the most historic rugby contest globally. This extended competition features all six countries holding matches throughout the spring, with Ireland, the victors of 2023, aiming to retain their crown. The climax of the tournament on 16 March will witness simultaneous final matches across three venues.

Super Bowl LVIII
The NFL’s season finale, Super Bowl LVIII, takes center stage in Las Vegas on 11 February, with the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers vying for the championship. Beyond the intense 60 minutes of play, the event is highlighted by Usher leading the Halftime Show and the potential surprise appearance by Taylor Swift, adding a layer of entertainment for even those lukewarm about football.

13th African Games
From 8 to 24 March, Accra, Ghana, will be alive with the spirit of the 13th African Games, an Olympic-style festival bringing together 49 nations for two exhilarating weeks. With 23 sports on the agenda and several acting as Olympic qualifiers, plus the introduction of E-Sports, Accra’s vibrant culture and culinary scene make it a prime destination.

Grand National Festival
The Grand National, a marquee event in horse racing, unfolds over three days from 12 to 14 April near Liverpool, England, peaking with the main race on Saturday. This year, the event anticipates 34 horses competing in a race moved to an earlier 4pm start for enhanced safety, with tickets available at £45 for each day.

UEFA EURO 2024
Set to take place from 14 June to 14 July in Germany, this year’s UEFA European Championship will feature top football nations in a month-long battle for supremacy, showcasing the sport’s finest talents.

Tour de France
Marking a historic first, the Tour de France will commence in Italy in 2024, with stages from 29 June to 21 July. This change promises an exciting start in Florence, with the race winding through Italy before concluding in France, an event eagerly anticipated by cycling enthusiasts.

Summer Olympic Games
The French capital, Paris, is set to host the Summer Olympic Games from 26 July to 11 August, welcoming approximately 11,000 athletes for three weeks of competition. With events spread across Paris and select competitions in Marseille and French Polynesia, this iteration will notably feature equal participation from male and female athletes.

Summer Paralympic Games
Following the Olympics, Paris will host the Paralympic Games from 28 August to 8 September, spotlighting over 4,400 athletes competing in various sports, in front of an estimated 3.4 million spectators.

2024 Formula One World Championship
Spanning from March to December, the Formula One World Championship travels globally, from Bahrain to Abu Dhabi, fueled by a resurgence in popularity thanks to Netflix’s documentary series. Fans will follow the circuit’s intense competition, culminating in the crowning of the year’s champion.
