Two aircraft, a British Airways flight with 121 passengers and an empty Virgin Atlantic jet, collided at Heathrow. No injuries or delays reported.

An event occurred where a British Airways aircraft carrying 121 individuals encountered a mishap with a Virgin Atlantic jet. Heathrow authorities confirmed that the incident resulted in no harm to individuals or disruption to the airport’s schedule.

Virgin Atlantic reported that its unoccupied Boeing 787-9 was being moved from its parking spot at Terminal 3 to another location on the field for parking when the incident took place around noon, British Summer Time.

The company further explained that the aircraft involved had recently arrived and was in the process of being shifted across the airfield.

In response, British Airways arranged for a different plane to accommodate the passengers from the affected flight.

Virgin Atlantic is in the process of examining the incident closely and stated that the aircraft is currently undergoing maintenance checks and has been temporarily withdrawn from operation.

The airline mentioned that a third-party ground-handling service, hired by Virgin Atlantic, was responsible for towing the aircraft at the time of the collision.

A Heathrow spokesperson mentioned that they are collaborating with emergency responders and airline partners to manage the aftermath of the incident involving the two stationary aircraft earlier in the day.

They also reassured that, as of now, there have been no injuries reported among passengers and they do not foresee any lasting effects on the airport’s functions.

As a precaution, emergency response teams were dispatched to the site of the incident.

The Metropolitan Police has stated it is aiding the airport’s officials and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch in delving into the specifics of what occurred.
