Ticket sales for flights to Split, Croatia, are now available through PLAY airlines. The inaugural flight to Split is scheduled for May 28, and the service will run once a week, specifically every Tuesday, throughout the summer season.

This marks a significant milestone as it represents the first time that PLAY is operating scheduled flights between Iceland and Split. Additionally, Split is PLAY’s first destination in Croatia, contributing to their growing route network, which is expected to encompass approximately 40 destinations in 2024.

PLAY specializes in flights connecting North America and Europe, utilizing Iceland as a central hub. Passengers flying with PLAY have the unique option to extend their layover into a multi-day stopover in Iceland at no extra cost, providing an opportunity to explore the country’s natural wonders, including waterfalls, glaciers, geysers, and diverse wildlife, all within a few hours from Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland.

The airline currently serves North American destinations such as Baltimore, Boston, New York, and Washington DC in the United States, as well as Toronto in Canada. PLAY inaugurated its first flight in June 2021 and has since expanded its fleet to include 10 Airbus A320/321neo aircraft, maintaining an average fleet age of just over 2 years. With an impressive 83% on-time performance in 2023, PLAY emphasizes the comfort, safety, and reliability of its passengers’ journeys.

Recognition for PLAY extends beyond operational excellence, with its cabin crew earning the title of the best crew by USA Today readers. Additionally, the airline was voted the best low-cost airline in Northern Europe.

PLAY’s overarching mission is to provide competitive prices across all its markets, allowing passengers to save on flights and allocate more of their budget to experiences at their destination. The CEO of PLAY, Birgir Jónsson, expressed enthusiasm for the new Split route, emphasizing the appeal of the destination’s stunning landscapes and vibrant culture. Jónsson is confident that PLAY’s affordable travel options will resonate well with those eager to explore Iceland, referring to Split as a dream destination for the airline.
