Porter Airlines is charting new territory with the launch of its inaugural service to Central America, connecting Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) directly with Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR). This new route marks a significant milestone for the airline as it broadens its international footprint, offering Canadian travellers more convenient access to one of the region’s most celebrated vacation destinations.

The Toronto-Liberia service will operate up to six times weekly, providing flexibility for both leisure and business travellers seeking a seamless gateway to Costa Rica’s renowned Guanacaste province. This launch is part of a broader winter expansion by Porter, which includes recent additions to Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and Nassau. Strategically, the new route complements the network of Porter’s joint venture partner, Air Transat, creating a more extensive and interconnected southern travel network.

Liberia serves as the ideal starting point for exploring the diverse landscapes of Costa Rica. The Guanacaste region is famous for its pristine beaches, charming coastal towns, and lush rainforests. Visitors can immerse themselves in the country’s exceptional biodiversity by exploring national parks and protected reserves, home to a wide array of wildlife and breathtaking natural habitats. Whether it’s surfing along the Pacific coast, hiking through tropical forests, or spotting exotic wildlife, Liberia provides travellers with easy access to some of Costa Rica’s most unforgettable experiences.

Porter Airlines will operate the route using its modern 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. Known for its elevated economy experience, the airline ensures that every passenger begins their vacation the moment they board. Features include no middle seats, complimentary beer and wine served in real glassware, free premium snacks, and high-speed WiFi. The aircraft’s layout and onboard amenities are designed to provide comfort, convenience, and a premium travel experience for all passengers.

The airline offers several fare options to suit different travel needs. With the all-inclusive PorterReserve fare, passengers enjoy additional perks, such as freshly prepared meals, priority check-in, two checked bags, and flexible booking options. For those seeking more customizable travel, PorterClassic fares allow passengers to purchase select services à la carte, offering the freedom to tailor their journey according to individual preferences.

Frequent flyers can also benefit from the VIPorter loyalty program, which allows members to redeem points for travel on Porter and Air Transat flights to sun destinations. VIPorter members can book one-way trips to southern vacation spots for as few as 10,000 points, making Costa Rica more accessible and rewarding for loyal travellers.
